Wat de aanblik van een heldere nachtelijke hemel zo bijzonder maakt, zijn niet de sterren, quasars of planeten op zich, maar wel dat dit alles daar zo ‘hangt’, als het ware in het niets. Juist dat niets waarin alles gevat is maakt het indrukwekkende en ongrijpbare ervan uit.

(‘Tai Ping’, letterlijk ‘het Grote Vierkant’, staat niet alleen voor ‘Grote Vrede’, maar ook een  ‘volkomen gelijkheid’).
